Biography:
Father Gary Thomas has been pastor of Sacred Heart Church since May 1, 2006. He was ordained for the Diocese of San Jose on December 3, 1983. Fr. Gary has served in a variety of ministerial capacities in the diocese over the past 28 years. He has served as parochial vicar of St. Joseph of Cupertino Church, Cupertino and St. Nicholas Church, Los Altos; diocesan director of vocations; chaplain of St. Francis High School; and previous pastor of St. Nicholas Church (1993-2005). Fr. Gary also currently serves as the diocesan exorcist.
Fr. Gary Thomas a native of San Francisco. He is a graduate of All Souls Grammar school and a 1971 graduate of Junipero Serra High School. He holds a B.S. in Management from the University of San Francisco 1975, and is a 1976 graduate of the SF College of Mortuary Science. Fr. Gary enjoyed a career in the funeral service industry for a number of years before entering St. Patrick Seminary in 1979 where he received his Masters in Divinity in 1983.
