UFO Investigations / Open Lines

About the show

George Noory was joined by UFO researcher Alejandro Rojas for a discussion on the Enigma app, its role in crowd-sourcing UFO analysis, as well as historical trends of UFO sightings. Rojas argued that 2025 was a disappointing year for progress on UAP and UFO transparency. He expressed skepticism that politicians are genuinely pursuing meaningful disclosure, suggesting most interest is performative rather than substantive. According to Rojas, congressional hearings were underwhelming, some claims were quickly debunked, and many researchers and members of the public feel disillusioned after years of promised revelations that never materialized. Despite this setback, he noted that the field is still better off than it was before the major 2017 media coverage that reignited mainstream attention.

Rojas explained that his work with Enigma Labs is an attempt to move the field forward by focusing on data collection rather than rhetoric. Enigma's app was created to give the public an easy, modern way to report sightings using their phones, encouraging the submission of photos, videos, and structured details. He emphasized that the app's strength lies in its scale and accessibility, with hundreds of thousands of downloads and reports, and in its ability to gather more multimedia evidence than traditional reporting systems ever could.

He outlined Enigma's analytical philosophy, which relies heavily on crowdsourced review and education rather than heavy-handed gatekeeping. Most reports are kept in the system unless they are clear hoaxes, allowing the community to learn together by identifying drones, aircraft, satellites, and other explainable phenomena. Rojas suggested this approach helps improve public understanding while still leaving room for genuinely anomalous cases. Citizen science, better data, and transparent analysis, rather than government secrecy, is the most realistic path toward real progress in understanding UAPs, he pointed out.

Open Lines followed in the latter half of the program. Bryan presented his belief that the Shroud of Turin is authentic. He explained that, due to the limited time before the Sabbath, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus placed Jesus' body on the shroud for transport rather than fully wrapping it, which he believes explains how the blood came into contact with the cloth. Bryan suggested a burst of energy or light may have played a role, and emphasized that the shroud was intended to be fully wrapped later by the women, a step that never occurred because of the resurrection.

Ruth recounted a strange experience from her teenage years, selling newspapers door to door in Maryland, when she encountered what appeared to be several real shrunken heads in a waterfront home, an encounter she recalled as deeply unsettling. Curious but reluctant to ask the homeowners about them, she wondered if George had ever seen authentic shrunken heads and asked him to share what he knew about their purpose. George said that while he has done programs about shrunken heads in the past, he has never seen a real one.

Zach from San Jose shared a series of personal experiences involving unexplained aerial phenomena and spiritual practices rooted in his Native American background. He recalled witnessing the 1997 Phoenix Lights and being struck by how no one around him would acknowledge what was happening. He also described seeing a massive, distant beam of light in Arizona, near Camp Verde, that never seemed to get closer despite driving toward it. Zach connected these sightings to his lifelong practice of placing prayer stones in sacred and mysterious places, explaining them as a form of Native American spiritual or quantum communication meant to create a lasting energetic connection with those locations.

The final half hour featured a replay from 1/15/2014 when investigative mythologist William Henry talked about The Watchers.
