Parapsychology & Poltergeists

About the show

In an early appearance on C2C, parapsychologist Dr. Barry Taff discussed his extensive history of scientific investigation of hauntings and poltergeist cases. Taff said he had instances of knowing the future when he was a child, and this is what first drew him to the subject. He spoke about his early days at the UCLA Parapsychology Laboratory and experiments in psychic prediction that either returned exactly right predictions or were very wrong, but the psychics all reported the same erroneous prediction.

He also watched famed psychic Uri Geller bend a metal key, which continued to bend and even break after he put it on a table. Taff delved into two of the most startling cases he investigated: one that became the basis for the 1982 film "The Entity" and another that took place in San Pedro, California. Both featured mysterious lights darting around rooms and violent assaults on witnesses. In one instance, Taff and others saw a substance leaking out of the walls, which was tested and revealed to be human blood plasma. He concluded that "if we ever unlock this force [behind psychic episodes and hauntings], we won't like what we see."
