Ensuring Food Safety / Automatic Writing

About the show

In the first half, food safety coach Jeff Nelken discussed real-world food cases that involved illnesses and even deaths. He detailed an incident from a couple of years ago in which a man in New Jersey became brain-dead after biting into an egg roll. It turned out that the processing facility had not removed the hard core of the shredded cabbage in the egg roll, and the core (about the size of a quarter) ended in up the egg roll at a restaurant. The diner caught the core in their throat, and the Heimlich maneuver was unsuccessful. Nelken also recounted a case when a five-gallon container of soap/degreaser was nearly empty, and a worker poured the remaining liquid into a glass. A resident at a retirement facility died after drinking it, as it looked like cranberry juice.

Regarding people with food allergies, restaurant servers sometimes have deadly reactions if they haven't informed the cooks of their allergies. For customers with food allergies, Nelken recommends checking the restaurant's website, and with the manager so you can be confident dining there. He suggested using plastic cutting boards rather than wood ones, which have more porous surfaces, and using a specific color cutting board for raw meat. He also reported on salmonella and bacteria issues related to sanitation, and the importance of having a thermometer in your refrigerator so you can be certain how cold it is keeping your food. As for storing food in the freezer, he said it's best to package carefully and date items, as after a certain amount of time, "freezer burn" may take place, and the food dries out and loses its flavor.

World-class athlete, author, and speaker, Michael Sandler is the co-host of the popular Inspire Nation show, a transformational self-help podcast. In the latter half, he spoke about the process of automatic writing and how he's helped many transform their lives using the technique. Automatic writing is a process where a person goes into a kind of hypnagogic state (half here, half not here), he said. "You put pen to paper, you write out a couple prayers, and words from the universe, from spirit, from angels, from guides, from loved ones on the Other Side, start to flow through you, not coming from your thinking mind," Sandler explained. The otherworldly messages that arise can literally change your life, he continued.

Sandler said that while messages from automatic writing can be different and unexpected, specific themes reoccur, such as "we are all God," "we are eternal," and "we are infinite." The writings provide a "big picture perspective" and help point out symbols and synchronicities you might have missed and guide you to a higher vibrational life, he added. In the early stages of working with automatic writing, he suggested asking open-ended questions like "what do I need to know today?" With practice, you can develop the ability to have more of a two-way conversation, Sandler stated. He also detailed his several near-death experiences, and how they enhanced his mystical understanding.
