Knights Templar Revelations / Dreaming Dynamics

About the show

In the first half, author Kathleen Ball, Ph.D., detailed her extensive research into the Knights Templar, linking their secretive history to esoteric knowledge and influential figures like Leonardo da Vinci. She traced the Templars' suppression by the Catholic Church, revealing how Jesuit priests systematically sought to erase their legacy across Europe during the 1500s and 1600s. Ball suggested the Templars preserved Gnostic teachings and guarded the bloodline of Jesus, living lives of initiation and spiritual quest.

One of the most compelling revelations was Ball's discovery of a possible Knights Templar cave in Brazil, a find she attributes to a series of synchronicities. Inside the cave, she identified graffiti matching that found in Templar dungeons in France, and symbols that were initiation marks consistent with Templar tradition, indicating that the group had a broader geographic reach than commonly believed. There is evidence that the cave operated as a mine, and the Templars used it to finance the Portuguese crown, explaining why Portugal remained wealthy after the Crusades while other monarchies faltered.

According to Ball, the Templars did not vanish after Pope Clement V disbanded them in 1312; instead, they resurfaced under different names, like the Knights of Christ in Portugal, and influenced major historical events, including the Magna Carta and the founding of the United States through Masonic connections. One of Ball's most provocative claims concerns Christopher Columbus. She alleged that the real Columbus died before the 1492 voyage and that a shipmate named Salvador Zarco assumed his identity and went on to lead the discovery of the Americas.

In the latter half, clinical psychologist Dr. Edward Bruce Bynum explored the multifaceted nature of dreams, blending scientific insight with spiritual perspectives. He described dreams as "a curious combination of instantaneous newness and yet ancient, archaic elemental events," emphasizing their universal and mystical quality. He explained that dreams are essential for mental stability, noting that deprivation can lead to confusion and vulnerability, citing North Korean tactics of sleep deprivation as a form of psychological control.

Bynum distinguished different types of dreams, including lucid, precognitive, and telepathic dreams. He highlighted lucid dreaming as a state where one is conscious that they are in the midst of a dream, and how this can allow for therapeutic confrontation of fears or spiritual exploration. He recounted historical instances where dreams inspired scientific breakthroughs, such as the discovery of the benzene ring and elements of the periodic table. On the paranormal side, Bynum affirmed his belief in psychic dreams, including telepathic communication and ancestral visitation dreams, noting cultural differences in acceptance.

There is a rarity of clinical psychologists deeply engaged in dream work, he reported, noting his affiliation with the International Association for the Study of Dreams (IASD), a non-profit organization that includes artists, writers, and scholars. He shared the intriguing history of "dream incubation," an ancient technique practiced in Greek and Roman sleep temples from around 300 BC to 300 AD. Pilgrims might travel hundreds of miles to the temples, and consult with priests there, who could influence their dreams in a special, heightened sleep state. Bynum also touched on his research into family systems and dream telepathy, where family members' dreams sometimes synchronize or reflect each other's imagery.
