'Westies' Irish Gang / Regression & ET Abduction

About the show

In the first half, former New York City taxi driver turned acclaimed chronicler of crime, corruption, and the American underworld, T.J. English, joined Ryan Wrecker (email) to explore the violent history of the Westies, the notorious Irish American gang that once controlled Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. In the 1980s, New York was a "city in decline and decay," with murder rates peaking around 2,000 annually and crack cocaine dominating the streets, he reported. English explained his personal connection to the story, noting his Irish American background and working-class roots. He said, "These guys were very familiar to me... I just thought they could have been like my uncle or somebody who lived in the neighborhood," underscoring the chilling proximity of organized crime to everyday life.

The Westies' brutal methods included dismembering victims and dumping bodies in the East River. The author emphasized the human complexity behind the gang members, particularly his main source, Mickey Featherstone, the gang's second-in-command who later turned informant. Featherstone expressed regret and shame, reflecting on his violent past during interviews conducted as he prepared for trial. He described how gangs exert control through extortion, often targeting local businesses, and how those who resist or owe debts risk deadly consequences.

Regarding the recent MGM+ show, "The Westies," English was critical, calling it "totally fictionalized" and lacking the factual depth of the real story. He asserted that organized crime is deeply intertwined with American urban life, and pointed out that his writing explores not just the criminals but the broader social, political, and economic contexts in which they operate. He stressed the importance of empathy and trust when interviewing individuals from the criminal world, noting, "People in the criminal world are very sensitive... If they feel that you're not judging them and they feel they can trust you, that's how you begin to get them to confide in you."

In the latter half, Toronto-based hypnotherapist Lesley Mitchell-Clarke discussed her use of hypnotic regression to uncover memories of extraterrestrial abduction. She revealed that many clients come to her seeking answers about breakthrough memories surfacing in midlife. "No kind of memory suppression... lasts longer than 25 years," she stated, suggesting a natural cognitive release of suppressed experiences. These memories often emerge as flashbacks accompanied by insomnia and disrupted sleep patterns, she added. During the regressions, she stressed the need to avoid leading questions and to focus on sensory details like smells and colors, noting recurring descriptions such as the abductee entering a "viscous, thicker" atmosphere often tinged with blue.

Addressing skepticism about unnoticed childhood abductions, she proposed that "everyone in the house, except for who their target is, probably is sedated," and that abductors may manipulate time perception, making lengthy events feel brief to outside observers. Mitchell-Clarke highlighted the evolving nature of these encounters, noting a shift from the stereotypical "grey" aliens involved in invasive procedures post-Roswell to more humanoid beings such as Pleiadians and Lyrians, who appear genetically related to humans. She described these interactions as often involving a "double life" where clients unknowingly collaborate with ETs on various projects, sometimes through etheric or psychic experiences rather than physical travel.

One striking case involved a family abduction during a car trip, where multiple siblings were abducted while their parents were in altered states, she recalled. "The children were literally levitated out of the car... And the next thing that my client remembers is he's on a very modern kind of medical table," where he saw his brother undergoing a similar examination. The abductors employ "projected images" or screen memories to ease fear, she added. The guest also addressed physical evidence of ET involvement, recounting a client who had a magnetic implant surgically removed and analyzed, and it contained unknown minerals. Such implants, she suggested, "are kind of like step-up transformers... designed to stimulate psychic ability or awareness."
