Sean Naylor

Biography:

Sean D. Naylor is the author of Relentless Strike: The Secret History of Joint Special Operations Command and Not a Good Day to Die: The Untold Story of Operation Anaconda, both of which were New York Times bestsellers. From 1990 to 2013 he was a reporter for Army Times, covering special operations forces, combat operations, exercises, training, readiness, force modernization and the Army's senior leadership. He spent time as an embedded reporter in Somalia, Haiti, Bosnia, Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.

From January to August 2015, Sean was the intelligence and counterterrorism correspondent for Foreign Policy magazine. Since 2014 he has also been a contributing reporter for the New York Times, including work on an in-depth investigation of SEAL Team 6 that won the 2015 George Polk award for military reporting.

Sean received his bachelor's degree in journalism from Boston University in 1988 and a Master of Arts in international relations from the same institution in 1990. Born in Canada, and raised in England and Ireland, Mr. Naylor became a U.S. citizen in 2000. He lives in Washington D.C. on Capitol Hill, reluctantly hung up his rugby boots 15 years ago after a 25-year playing career, and is an avid soccer fan.
