America & Geopolitics/ ESP & Dreams

About the show

Author Barry Eisler held a covert position with the CIA's Directorate of Operations, has been an attorney in an international law firm, and an executive in a Silicon Valley start-up. In the first half, he discussed how many of the plot lines in his thrillers have come to fruition in real life such as an international terrorist threat matrix, the safety shortcomings of Japanese nuclear reactors, and total government surveillance. He also shared his viewpoint on what's gone wrong with American policies. Following the revelations of whistleblower Edward Snowden, we've learned that the government will ignore surveillance/privacy laws when they think they can get away with it, so the only thing that will stop them is encryption, he remarked.

Foreign "bad actors" such as ISIS offer "nothing but upside to America's oligarchy...to the military industrial complex...[and] nothing but power to be gained and profits to be made, he suggested, adding that threats of terrorist attacks in the US are overblown, and geared towards fear mongering and war incitements. While the focus is on the violence of groups like ISIS, Eisler pointed out that Americans aren't even aware of their own country's level of violence, For instance, in the second Iraq War, US-led forces killed some 100,000 civilians and displaced another 4 million from their homes, he reported.

In the latter half, author, researcher, and psychotherapist Dr. Laurie Nadel talked about various forms of extrasensory perception such as remote viewing, and shamanic healing, as well as how she is noticing an uptick in prophetic dreams much the same way there was before 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy. Such dreams and premonitions, she explained, can stem from a kind of "collective intuition," or collective unconscious, in which we're all connected to a huge pool of archetypes, symbols, and universal information, as well as a higher source of knowledge.

The increase in dreams with themes of smoke, fire, planes in the sky, objects blowing up, a feeling of being unsafe, and dread that something's going to happen is similar to the 12-to-18-month period before 9/11, when NYC therapists reported that their patients were having these kinds of disturbing dreams, she said. Nadel, who lost her home to Hurricane Sandy, had a series of precognitive dreams before the event in which her deceased father and others admonished her to stock up on bottled water (she did so, and ended up sharing her water supply with those in need in her community). Regarding shamanic healing, she described a process called "psycho-navigation" in which the shaman journeys out of body to retrieve a missing piece of soul for the person who is suffering. Dr. Nadel shares a free offer for Coast listeners here.
