The Truth About Airplanes / Mel's Hole Update

About the show

Art was joined by (the late) Diana Fairchild in hours 1-2 to talk about the truth regarding airplanes and why so many people get sick from flying. She was a 20+ year airline (retired) stewardess, who started the "Healthy Flying" website to discuss the recycled air problem on planes. Pilots, she revealed, get 10x more air than economy, and first-class gets 3x more (but it’s only because there are fewer people in first-class breathing the same airflow). She disclosed a plan on how to sneak into first class.

There is no best place to sit on an airplane-- sure, you might get better airflow in the front, but that may not be the best location during a crash, Fairchild noted. She said that "environmental stress" such as cabin pressure, solar radiation, humidity, and even jet lag can compromise your immune system. Radiation is an issue, she continued, citing that pilots get more radiation than nuclear power plant workers. The air on flights is worse now than it used to be, she claimed. Art takes calls for Diana in the second hour. One caller recounted how he virtually died on a plane due to something in the air – luckily there was a doctor on board who gave him an adrenaline shot that saved his life. She said it’s quite common for people to get seriously ill from a flight.

Mel Waters of "Mel's Hole" fame joined Art in hours 3-4 to give an update on the bottomless hole on his property. He said that when he returned to his property, military people were there blocking his access. One of his neighbors witnessed a "blacker than black" beam that came out of the hole. Mel also said he had a call from his real estate agent about a large offer for his property. According to Mel, he changed his will so that when he dies, he's going to be thrown into the hole. One story Mel heard from an elderly neighbor was that back in the day, there were stone columns built around the hole that looked just like Stonehenge.

During the last hour, Open Lines were featured with cloning as one of the topics.
