Evan Ratliff

Biography:

Evan Ratliff is an award-winning investigative journalist and the author of The Mastermind: Drugs, Empire, Murder, Betrayal, about the 21st century’s most ambitious criminal cartel and the programming genius behind it. Evan’s writing also appears in Wired, California Sunday, The New Yorker, National Geographic, and other magazines. He was the cofounder and editor in chief of Atavist and The Atavist Magazine, which under his editorship was nominated for two Emmy Awards for News and Documentary and nine National Magazine Awards. (Atavist was acquired by Wordpress.com in 2018.)

On the side, he co-hosts the acclaimed Longform Podcast, a best-of-the-year selection by The Atlantic, New York, Time, and other publications. He was also the co-founder of Pop-Up Magazine, the live magazine that The New York Times has called "a sensation."
