Cursed Calls

About the show

During Open Lines, George offered a 'curse' hotline for callers who have either been cursed or have placed a curse on another person. A caller from Canada believes she has been cursed by her former husband. She said her ex has a "powerful mind" and has used it in the past to curse a school teacher. The caller said the curse has caused her to be sick for several years.

Robert from Oklahoma told George that his "unintentional intentions" could change the weather. He shared an incident from a Dallas bar, where he was denied admittance because his shirt (which he purchased from the same bar) did not have a collar on it. Robert said he told the bouncer he would send a tornado down, and five minutes later an F1 tornado went through the area.

A caller from "Canada and beyond" described himself as an "off-planet man," who came to Earth from another world. Three extraterrestrials appeared to him in November 2005, the caller explained, communicating telepathically with him about his special heritage as an alien. He claimed to have traveled all over the universe. A police officer in Louisiana phoned in to tell George that he ran this caller's interview live through a Voice Deception Analyzer (VDA). According to the officer, there was absolutely 'no deception' in his voice.

Tecumseh's Curse

In the first hour, William Connery talked about the Curse of Tecumseh, which describes an unusual twenty-year pattern of presidential deaths between 1840 to 1960. Connery said every 20 years Presidents elected in a year ending in a zero die while in office: William Harrison (1840), Abraham Lincoln (1860), James A. Garfield (1880), William McKinley (1900), Warren G. Harding (1920), Franklin D. Roosevelt (1940), and John F. Kennedy (1960). Ronald Reagan (1980) broke the curse, Connery noted, but was almost assassinated while in office.
